The patient controlled active motion (PCAM) device is a revolutionary, simple device that helps restore range of motion to the knee and hip joint after joint replacement.  It's simple, light weight design can be used while lying in bed or sitting in a chair.  Please note you should not stand on the Patient Controlled Active Motion Device.

The PCAM can be used for flexion and extension exercises (bending and straightening the leg) and for abduction and adduction (bringing the leg away from the body and back to the body).  The PCAM can be used flat or on an incline in either direction to provide resistance.  As you become stronger you can add ankle weights for added strengthening.  Exercises with the PCAM should be performed 2-3 times a day for 10-20 reps.
